Town of Winthrop MA Celebrates National Marina Day on June 11th!

Winthrop's marinas, yacht clubs, and businesses celebrate their first annual National Marina Day together at the Town Landing/Pier on Saturday June 11, 2011,10:00am to 4:00pm. Rain or Shine. All proceeds to benefit Winthrop's Youth Sailing Programs.

WINTHROP, MA, May 14, 2011 (Press-News.org) What if there was a way to spend the day learning about Winthrop's yacht clubs, marinas, youth sailing programs, and marine businesses all in one place?

Great news!

Boating associates Robin G. Coles of TheNauticalLifestyle.com, John Crosby representing Winthrop's Harbormasters, Captain Dave Winkler Vice Commodore of Cottage Park Yacht Club, Bill Scanlon Past Commodore of Winthrop Yacht Club, and Joe Duplin Jr of Winthrop Elks announce Winthrop's First Annual National Marina Day. The date is set for Saturday, June 11, 2011, at the Winthrop Town Landing from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Rain or Shine.

"The Winthrop Yacht Club and its Youth Sailing Program are proud and excited to participate in Winthrop's First Annual National Marine Day," says Bill Scanlon. "We'll have two tables at the event and want to thank everyone in advance for coming and supporting the Youth Sailing programs in our town."

Captain Dave Winkler, Vice Commodore of Cottage Park Yacht Club, says "Winthrop's Marina Day festivities to Benefit Youth Sailing Programs in Winthrop including Winthrop's own High School Sailing Team will be a great opportunity to visit and speak with members of all the youth sailing programs and their respective hosting clubs and businesses alike."

Coles states there's a lot of activities planned for the day for both children and adults. For example:

-- a nautical fleamarket
-- small boats for the children to color and pull around the water
-- practice knot tying
-- meet the youth of sailing
-- face painting
-- food
-- 50/50 raffle
-- plus much more
