SRO For Addiction Event

Sex, Drug, Alcohol & Food Addicts Share Their Stories Of Triumph

2011-05-15
LONG BEACH, CA, May 15, 2011 (Press-News.org) Some of LA's movers and shakers crowded into a reception room at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills recently for a powerful presentation on overcoming addictions sponsored by The Nelson Center. In a rare public appearance, founder Roy Nelson shared his own personal struggle with alcohol, drugs and sex addiction with 300+ guests who gathered to hear about the program he founded 30 years ago that boasts a 90%+ success rate.

With celebs like Whitney Houston, Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan flooding the news with their addiction struggles on a near daily basis and many "recovery" programs at 100% capacity, the subject of addiction is "red hot" and not likely to go away any time soon. Guests at the event - many suffering from addictions themselves or who have a friend or family member facing such challenges - also listened to those who have been treated at The Nelson Center including former sex & food addict Talia Witkowski, Ph.D., who now enjoys healthy interpersonal relationships and lost 60 lbs.; Harold Lawrance, whose drug addiction included taking up to 100 Vicodin per day who now lives in Oregon with his wife and two children; and Tsilah Burman, a self-described workaholic and food addict who lost 80 lbs. and has finally found happiness.
Co-hosting the event was Stacy D. Phillips, noted attorney at Phillips, Lerner, and Lauzon, LLP and author of "Divorce: It's all about Control."

"A leading cause of divorce is addiction and The Nelson Center offers a proven treatment to those who are looking to overcome their addictions," she said. " I wanted to support this event because I conducted my own research into addiction treatment and it's a program I wholeheartedly support."

Until now, The Nelson Center has operated "under the radar" with an exclusive and ultra-wealthy clientele who dedicate themselves to an intensive one-on-one program. President Tricia Greaves, co-author of "Thank God I" and "101 Ways to Improve Your Health," says that clients are usually addiction-free in as few as 28 days and counseling is available for life. While most 12-step and other familiar treatment programs focus on the symptoms, The Nelson Center helps clients dig deep within themselves to learn of the true source of their addictions.
