Spohn Ranch's New Skatepark Set to Open in Titusville, Florida

With skatepark construction complete, Brevard County Parks and Recreation will host the Marina Park Skatepark's official grand opening on May 23.

2011-05-15
INDUSTRY, CA, May 15, 2011 (Press-News.org) If the countless tweets, facebook updates and blog posts from Central Florida's skaters are any indication, Spohn Ranch's latest design/build project in Titusville, Florida is officially a hit! As skaters from throughout the region flock to the new concrete wonderland, word is quickly spreading about the park's innovative layout and use of unique features.

California-based Spohn Ranch completed two larger, destination-style parks in Gainesville and Daytona Beach last year. With Titusville's park, they've continued the tradition of skateable landscapes with visually-striking architecture and an inviting aesthetic. At Marina Park, the waterfront views, colored concrete and open air feeling all come together to create a vibrant public space - arguably the most intriguing part of the new recreation complex.

The new park, Titusville's first public skatepark, boasts roughly 8,000 square feet of skateable concrete terrain. An elevated plaza anchors the park's center and is supported by curving pathways which allow riders to flow into either the mini-ramp or technical section of the park. An extravagantly large manual pad at the lower elevation gives the park a true street vibe and provides plenty of opportunity for connecting technical lines. For the passionate local touch, Spohn Ranch collaborated with Florida-based Misiano Construction to execute the build portion of this project

With skatepark construction wrapping up in early April, Brevard County Parks and Recreation will host the Marina Park Skatepark's official grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, May 23rd.

Spohn Ranch is a nationally-recognized contractor specializing in the design and construction of cutting-edge skateable landscapes. Spohn Ranch's deep roots in skateboarding originate with the first X-Games in 1995, when they were hired by ESPN to design and build the competition courses. After launching skateboarding into the mainstream with the X-Games, Spohn Ranch has helped hundreds of communities across the globe achieve their skatepark dreams.
