SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, May 17, 2011 (Press-News.org) The Bondi Bergstation is set to transform Sydney's best known and most popular beach into a winter wonderland when it gets underway at the end of next month.

Installed as part of the 2011 Bondi Winter Festival (BWF), the Bergstation - located on the boardwalk beside the sandy stretch - will offer everything from ice skating to apres ski activities.

One of the country's largest outdoor ice rinks measuring 800 sq m will be opened at the site, surrounded by food stalls selling delicacies from more than 20 countries known for their love of winter sports.

Among the seasonal dishes on the menu will be Swedish meatballs, gruyere, spinach and mushroom strudel, wine-braised free-range chicken and walnut praline cake.

Visitors will be kept entertained by a packed musical bill, which includes traditional Bavarian tunes alongside European DJ nights.

Performers from Ice Skating Australia will also be on hand to wow the crowds with spectacular spins, twirls and leaps.

The BWF is set to run from June 30th to July 17th.

Tickets for an hour's skating, including equipment hire, cost from AU$20 for adults and AU$15 for children.
