BELLEVUE, WA, May 18, 2011 (Press-News.org) Wolters Kluwer Health announced today that Pharmacy OneSource, software-as-a-service provider of Sentri7, an infection prevention surveillance, documentation and reporting application, is hosting a complimentary webinar with Bonnie Barnard, MPH, CIC, in "Right Sizing HAI Prevention Measures for Critical Access Hospitals."
Critical access hospitals (CAH) are rural acute care hospitals consisting of no more than fifteen acute care beds and ten swing beds if desired. Some of these facilities also have long term care facilities associated with them. These limited service hospitals and long term care centers play a critical role in providing healthcare services in rural and frontier communities.
Resources for infection prevention and control are very limited in these settings. It is often times difficult to implement evidence-based national recommendations for prevention, control and surveillance activities due to lack of infection prevention expertise and resources. Barnard will review the obstacles faced by these facilities and present ideas for "right sizing" national recommendations for this setting.
