Clutch of Awards for Criccieth

The seaside holiday resort of Criccieth has just won a clutch of awards from Keep Wales Tidy, including the Blue Flag, resort and rural Seaside Award.

CHORLEY, ENGLAND, May 25, 2011 (Press-News.org) The Blue Flag Campaign is administered in Wales, on behalf of FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education), by Keep Wales Tidy. Blue Flags have been flying at beaches and marinas throughout Europe since the campaign was started in 1987 and now provides a comparison with coastal resorts and marinas in nearly 40 countries.

Criccieth lies on the south coast of the Llyn Peninsula, where the edge of Snowdonia National Park meets the sea which is washed by the Gulf Stream giving the waters a temperate climate, The castle headline divides the seafront into two beaches and are visited regularly by porpoises, visitors and locals who swim in the safe, mild waters every day of the year. The beach to the west of the castle known as Marine Beach is pebbly with views straight out to sea, the main beach to the east of the castle has a mix of pebbles and sand with spectacular views out to sea and to the mountains that stretch along the Welsh coach.

All of this is a short walk from the atmospheric George IV Hotel, situated on the High Street the hotel commands magnificent views towards the sea and castle from many of its bedrooms, guests can relax in the delightful cocktail bar before enjoying a four course evening meal from the extensive menu.
