Jackson Design & Remodeling Takes First Place for Bathroom Design at San Diego ASID Design Excellence Awards
2011-05-26
SAN DIEGO, CA, May 26, 2011 (Press-News.org) Jackson Design and Remodeling (JDR) - winner of the 2011 GuildQuality Award with Highest Distinction for the fourth straight year and Professional Remodeler Magazine's Market Leader for the third consecutive year - continues its winning streak with today's announcement that the company has earned three ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) San Diego Chapter Design Excellence Awards. Judged by design-industry peers, the ASID Design Excellence Awards are one of the most prestigious and sought-after awards programs in the industry.

JDR's award-winning projects were earned in the categories Baths, Residential Space under 3,500 sq. ft, and Kitchens.

Baths - 1st place
Senior Designer Tatiana Machado-Rosas created the design for an elegant master bathroom in a historic, Spanish Revival-style home located in Marston Hills. With only one wall with a window and substantial dark cabinetry, bringing natural light into the room was a primary concern. A skylight, plus carefully selected paint and tile colors, help to balance dark and light aspects. A rich mixture of materials, including gleaming Sahara Gold tile and a medallion inlay on the floor, infuse the room with light and color. A freestanding rectangular tub communicates understated elegance. Framed by a graceful arch of artistic hand-painted tiles, the oversized shower is the height of modern luxury. In keeping with the home's historic nature, the bathroom's overall aesthetic is classic, sophisticated and ornate, while also providing the owners with modern conveniences for relaxed everyday living.

Residential Space under 3,500-square feet - 2nd place
Senior Designer Tatiana Machado-Rosas created the design for this Pacific Beach home, which had an ideal location, but the homeowners could only enjoy the panoramic views from the roof. The whole home was transformed, including a new third level, to take full advantage of its amazing natural surroundings. The new third level of the home is designed as an expansive open area for eating, relaxing and entertaining. The main focus of the design was to create a modern, livable space where nothing distracts from the beautiful panoramic views outside each window.

Kitchens - 3rd place
Designer Rosella Gonzalez designed the new kitchen for this Oceanside beach condo that serves as a weekend getaway for the surf-loving homeowners. The design approach for this small space needed to be focused and innovative. Space planning was essential to the success of the layout. Appliances were selected at smaller scales than usual and cabinetry was kept as minimal and spare as possible. Creative storage methods keep the space sleek and contemporary. The resulting kitchen design achieves a casual feeling in line with the condo's role as a getaway destination, while also communicating the homeowners' fresh, modern and uncomplicated point of view.

"Once again, our incredible team of designers is bringing home awards," said Todd Jackson, president and CEO of JDR. "Tatiana and Rosella's creativity and skill are unbelievable and we're all inspired every day as we get to bring their designs to life."

Since January, JDR has earned three regional Contractor of the Year (CotY) awards, two regional Chrysalis awards, a GuildQuality award with Highest Distinction and was named Market Leader by Professional Remodeler Magazine.

Toshiba and Samsung are competing to see who will bring home the hottest trend in audio-video technology since HD: glasses-free 3D television sets. Toshiba's first glasses-free 3D TV sets debuted in Asia to mixed reviews. Japanese consumers could purchase 12 and 20-inch models, which went on sale just before Christmas last year. With hefty price tags equivalent to around USD$1,500 for the smaller set and almost $3,000 for the larger, they didn't turn out to be the big sellers Toshiba was hoping they would be. Meanwhile, Samsung recently debuted a huge 55-inch glasses-free ...

The European Court has passed a new ruling which removes gender considerations from a wide range of commercial activities. The basic principle behind this was whether or not it is legitimate ...
