Sea Turtle Camp Offers Women's Retreat In Topsail Island, N.C.

Sea Turtle Camp is offering a Women's Retreat from October 1 - October 6, 2011. The Sea Turtle Rejuvenation Retreat for Women combines coastal exploration and volunteer work with Sea Turtles at the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Hospital in North Carolina.

2011-05-26
WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC, May 26, 2011 (Press-News.org) Sea Turtle Camp, a marine biology camp in North Carolina with a focus on sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation, is expanding their offerings, and extending their season, to include the new Women's Sea Turtle Serenity Retreat. The program will emphasize sea turtle conservation and ocean awareness while allowing participants to relax with women from similar backgrounds and experiences. The retreat will be held on Topsail Island from October 1-6, 2011.

Once again, Sea Turtle Camp will be partnering with the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center for this unique Women's Retreat program. Participants will be working as volunteers to provide all aspects of care, food preparation, and cleaning for the sea turtles. The patients at the hospital are typically one of four sea turtle species found along are coast that have become injured or ill; therefore they require a lot of attention and support as they are nursed back to health and eventually released.

"We've had numerous conversations with parents, wanting to attend our Sea Turtle Camp with their children," say co-founder Jen Civelli. "The experience of working one-on-one with sea turtles is compelling to any age, so we've decided to offer an adult women's version of the program with a similar content and camp experience, but with very un-camp like perks."

Participants will be staying in a deluxe oceanfront beach house in Surf City, just a few blocks from the turtle hospital. The house comes equipped with spacious queen beds, full kitchen, beachside pool, and a hot tub.

In addition to the volunteer work that will be done at the hospital, participants will have a stand up paddleboard (SUP) lesson with the professional instructors from WB Surf Camp, a nature kayak tour of the marsh ecosystem, an afternoon of spa treatments, a boat trip to the isolated Masonboro Island preserve, a visit to the North Carolina Aquarium, and numerous beachside yoga classes with certified instructors.

The Women's Sea Turtle Serenity Retreat is being offered October 1 - 6, 2011 in Surf City, N.C. Registration is currently available both online and by phone at 1.910.686.4611. For more information, visit http://www.seaturtlecamp.com/womens_rejuvenation_retreat.asp.

Sea Turtle Camp is a unique overnight marine science camps for teens with hands on / feet wet immersion in marine biology. Also offering a Women's Retreat in coastal NC with sea turtle volunteer work, yoga, spa treatments, rest, and rejuvenation.
