BILBAO, SPAIN, June 03, 2011 (Press-News.org) AlhondigaBilbao has launched a photography collection entitled 50 Years of the USSR Through the Lens of Dmitri Baltermants.

The 20th century artist used his camera to capture a huge variety of images relating to the country, from portraits of political leaders to panoramic pictures of wild Russian landscapes.

Running until June 29th, the collection will give visitors a chance to enjoy a broad selection of his work, which is on display in Bilbao as part of the venue's Russia-Spain Year.

In a statement, the organisers said: "Baltermants was able to protect the fundamental myths of the Soviet regime of the life of stronger and happier people on earth and at the same time, strip away the most brutal reality of their myths."

Admission costs EUR3 (GBP2.60), with attendees able to use the ticket to enter North Korea: The Weight of History at the same art space.

The collection showcases a range of graphics developed in the Asian nation over the past 60 years.

Photography enthusiasts can use LateRooms.com to find a hotel in Bilbao, with the website recommending a wide range of options, such as the Hotel Carlton Bilbao.
