AsiaRooms.com - Marine Waste Water Discharges Conference Coming to Langkawi

Langkawi is set to play host to an international conference on waste water discharge.

2010-09-16
LANGKAWI, MALAYSIA, September 16, 2010 (Press-News.org) People with a concern for the natural world are gearing up for a visit to Langkawi for the International Conference on Marine Waste Water Discharges (MWWD) and Coastal Environment.

When the event comes to the Malaysian resort between October 25th and 29th 2010, it will be the sixth time it has been held, although this is the first time it has taken place outside of Europe.

Various locations in Italy, Turkey and Croatia have hosted previous iterations of the conference since it was first staged in 2000.

The team behind this year's talks explained they chose to move away from traditional locations in a bid to enhance "the cooperation and the participation of our Asian colleagues".

Environmentalists planning to stay in Langkawi hotels in order to attend the series of forums, roundtable discussions and meetings should note that although it is being held further afield than in the past, the MWWD Organisation is still behind the event.

However, it will receive ample help and support as it prepares for the occasion, with a number of environmental bodies, public authorities and universities all lending a hand.

Malaysia Airlines and Tourism Malaysia have already "anticipated their support for the travel and touristic aspects" of the conference, the MWWD announced.

Single-day attendance to the conference costs EUR280 (GBP230).

For more information on this event, visit the Marine Waste Water Discharges website.
