NEW YORK, NY, June 05, 2011 (Press-News.org) MobileCrafted, a company that optimizes websites to be viewed on smartphones, surveyed smartphone users in Manhattan this week. The survey--which asked 1,021 smartphone owners about their phone use--found that the majority disseminate information and make purchasing decisions based upon their mobile web experience.
The study found that, in the previous week alone, 77% of respondents sought information about a business on their mobile, and 88% made a purchase decision that was impacted by a business' mobile website. What is more is the finding that 95% of respondents bypassed an establishment altogether due to a poor mobile website.
The study went further to confirm that smartphone users--by nature--are the ideal consumer, as they frequent restaurants and bars and tend to have a high disposable income. Another common trait among this population is their increasing reliance on their mobile for information in day-to-day life. In fact, they were found to be so dependent that 78% of those surveyed said they are substituting their PC for a smartphone.
With the obvious trend towards smartphone usage, businesses will miss an opportunity to engage this affluent audience if they do not optimize their website for mobile. The study exemplifies the case that maintaining only a PC-based website is no longer sufficient as a stand-alone method to interact with the consumer marketplace.
MobileCrafted provides a focused strategy to optimize businesses' ability to engage customers on the most intimate device they own: their phone. With over a decade of mobile development experience, MobileCrafted provides customers with world-class design and service--without breaking the bank. As smartphones continue to shape consumers' purchase decisions, businesses must also rely on their mobile sites to drive their business forward.
