AsiaRooms.com - Check Out World's Best Movies in Kuala Lumpur

Films by Takeshi Kitano and Akira Kurosawa are set to be screened in Kuala Lumpur in June.

2011-06-08
KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, June 08, 2011 (Press-News.org) The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC) presents the World's Best Movies over the course of this month, with three films set to be screened.

All of the motion pictures lined up to be shown are Japanese and come from two of the country's most celebrated directors.

Kids Return, Kikujiro and Ran will be screened on June 4th, 11th and 18th respectively in the Indicine cinema at the KLPAC complex.

The first two films are written and directed by Takeshi Kitano, who is perhaps best known for explosive yet poetic titles such as Brother, Hana-Bi and Zatoichi.

While Kids Return is an often brutal story of two old school friends and their lives in the real world, Kikujiro is a much more whimsical and funny tale about a boy's search for his mother.

Ran was made by legendary director Akira Kurosawa and was the most expensive Japanese film ever produced when it came out in 1985.

It stars Tatsuya Nakadai, Mieko Harada and Akira Terao in an epic reimagining of William Shakespeare's King Lear, with the action taking place in 16th century Japan.

The movies begin at 20:00 local time. There is no fixed admission price, but all donations will go towards the Japan Disaster Relief fund.

Movie buffs can browse a huge variety of Kuala Lumpur hotels on AsiaRooms.com, which recommends options such as the Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel.
