VENTNOR, NJ, June 08, 2011 (Press-News.org) Look up the word "cool" in the dictionary. If there's not a picture of the Rat Pack along with the definition, there should be. The Rat Pack members included Sammy Davis, Jr., Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Peter Lawford, and Joey Bishop. The Rat Pack was a group of Hollywood entertainers who took Las Vegas by storm in the 1960s and were hugely responsible for turning Las Vegas into an entertainment destination. "The Rat Pack is Back", is playing at The Shell Theater inside the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino. Frank, Sammy, Dean and Joey invented the terms "cool" and "hip" and in The Rat Pack is Back they bring it all to the stage of The Shell showroom. The "Rat Pack is Back" and part of a master plan set in motion by owner Tilman Fertitta to bring the best in entertainment to the Golden Nugget no matter which age demographic is targeted. The beauty of "The Rat Pack is Back" show is that it appeals not only to the mature casino goer, but also the younger demographic who dance and party the nights away at the many nightclubs in AC, including Golden Nugget's Red Room. Sinatra Davis Jr.and Martin are the 60's version of today's hottest, sexiest musical performers and singing stars. For today's nightclub crowd, "The Rat Pack is Back" is a glimpse into the past and a 70 minute lesson on how "Cool" was invented. In fact, Hollywood.com recently referred to a "modern day Rat Pack" which referred to Justin Timberlake and actor Ryan Gosling as members. Fact is, "The Rat Pack is Back" spans any generational gaps and provides a direct link to the hipsters of yesteryear and the superstars of today. Even Hollywood today has kept the Legend of the Rat pack alive. George Clooney remade "Ocean's Eleven," then he made "Ocean's Twelve" and "Ocean's Thirteen." The movies were hits. Waves of nostalgia centered] around the original Rat Pack, and there are books about them, too.
Starting June 22nd through Labor Day you can see how it all started and looked some 50 years ago as it debuts in the beautiful Golden Nugget Show Room in Atlantic City.
Shows are Wed.-Sat. 7pm and Sunday at 4pm Relive the days of the Rat Pack with Las Vegas' most famous entertainers and their live 12 piece big band as they appeared live in the Sands Hotel Copa Room. The only Vegas based show with national touring companies and an award from the "Congress of the United States".
