Turner Construction Company Promotes Matt Papenfus to Senior Vice President: Papenfus to Direct Future Growth for Construction Leader in Texas

DALLAS, TX, June 09, 2011 (Press-News.org) Turner Construction Company, the nation's leading general builder, announces the promotion of Matthew Papenfus to senior vice president of the company's Texas region. Based in Dallas, Matt is a 21-year veteran responsible for directing and sustaining the growth of Turner's operations statewide.

Turner's Texas operations have completed nearly 800 projects throughout the state. Under Matt's leadership, Turner saw a 16 percent growth in Texas from 2009 to 2010 - despite the down economy.

"As an industry veteran and a leader in the Turner senior management team, Matt has been instrumental in directing the company's growth throughout Texas for the past eight years," said Abrar Sheriff, vice president and general manager of Turner Construction. "We were aware of the potential the Texas market held for Turner, and I am proud to recognize Matt for his contributions to our success."

Prior to his promotion, Matt served as vice president and general manager in Turner's Dallas office. He was also responsible for the Houston office since 2006 and the Central Texas office since 2008. Before his transfer to Texas, he worked in a variety of positions in Turner's Kansas City, Milwaukee and Chicago offices since beginning his career as a field engineer in 1991.

In addition to his management responsibilities, Matt also leads the Turner School of Construction Management - one of the industry's leading programs to help build the capacity of women and minority business enterprises through an in-depth business curriculum. The Turner School of Construction Management has graduated more than 700 business leaders throughout the state since its inception in Texas.

Matt is also active in his community. As a member of the Dallas Regional Chamber of Commerce board of directors and executive committee, Matt currently serves as chairman of the Energy and Environment Committee and was on the Future Committee which developed a five-year strategic plan to drive economic prosperity for the city.

Other community and board commitments include the ACE Mentoring Program of DFW, the Dallas Zoological Society, Communities in Schools, the Museum of Nature and Science, Dallas' Building Business Opportunities program and the Super Bowl XLV Host Committee. Matt was also honored in 1999 when was given the Thomas E. Purcell Award for outstanding contribution to the Guadalupe Center.

A graduate of the Milwaukee School of Engineering, Matt received a Bachelors of Science in Architectural Engineering, and pursued a Masters in Construction Management from Kansas University. Matt resides in Murphy, Texas with his wife Melissa and their four children.
