European activities of the Gonarezhou Transfrontier Park are raising awareness about Mozambique

PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC, June 10, 2011 (Press-News.org) One of the many projects and activities that the park was part of lately was the internationally known traditional charity project - The Great Gorilla Run. Gonarezhou Transfrontier Park has become the general partner of The Great Gorilla Run 2011 in Prague. The event, which took place on Saturday May 28th 2011, received its main prize from the Gonarezhou Transfrontier Park - it was a one of a kind vacation in Mozambique for two.

The Great Gorilla Run is a special event of its own kind, one that tries to help to save the western lowland gorillas, which are in threat of being extinct in the wild. The Great Gorilla Run 2011 in Prague is traditionally organized by Prague City along with the Prague Zoo and a number of other prominent partners.

Prague, State Capital of the Czech Republic, is for its superlatively rich historic and cultural value referred to as the heart of Europe. Prague is a popular meeting place for the highest state representatives. It is also a center of the political, cultural and economic life and it thereby ranks among the top most sought after tourist destinations in the world.

The Prague Zoo according to the Forbes Magazine is the 7th best and most beautiful zoo in the world. It specializes in saving the gorillas for years now and its gorilla family is continuously growing successfully.

The Great Gorilla Run - international project to save the western lowland gorillas

The Prague Great Gorilla Run is part of a series of similar events that are organized to help save the gorillas in metropolis such as London, Amsterdam or San Francisco since 2003. This year's Great Gorilla Run in Prague was attended by a vast number of Czech and foreign guests and tourists.

The run was started at the Prague Castle - the residence of the Czech President - and from the Hradèany Square it continued across the Lesser Quarter Square along the Vltava River all the way to one of the most prominent Prague localities - the Old Town Square, which was fully packed by participants. The event was accompanied by a rich cultural program, refreshments for participants and concert performances by Czech and foreign groups. All this took place under the supervision of the Mayor of Prague and other celebrities from the current cultural and political scene. The Czech public broadcast television station (Èeská Televize) informed of the project in its prime time, the same promotion was provided by the national radio (Èeský rozhlas) and many other media partners.

Gonarezhou Transfrontier Park - general partner of the Great Gorilla Run

The Gonarezhou Transfrontier Park as the general partner of the project had an excellent opportunity to present Mozambique and its natural beauties throughout the entire event. Advertising banners for the Gonarezhou Transfrontier Park were placed along the entire track, the start and the finish line. Just the same way advertisement billboards telling visitors to visit the natural park in Mozambique were placed next to the Mozambican flag at the grand stands. Fliers were distributed among the event participants, which provided information about the Gonarezhou Transfrontier Park in Mozambique and its charity projects, the objective of which is the long term development of communities in Mozambique, construction of schools, hospitals, water reservoirs or even the development of local infrastructure. This major event was also a great opportunity to present the Helping Africa charity drive (www.pomahameafrice.cz), which was started in Europe to support Mozambique and the communities around the Gonarezhou Transfrontier Park.

The Great Gorilla run is just one of the many activities, which the Gonarezhou Transfrontier Park is preparing as part of its European activities. For example the great national golf tournament, the Albixon Golf Cup, is currently taking place in the Czech Republic. The Gonarezhou Transfrontier Park is also a partner of this tournament. The tournament is of national character and it is played on all major golf courses across the Czech Republic. These golf courses will also have the Gonarezhou Transfrontier Park advertisement billboards placed on them.
