LateRooms.com - Vienna Proms Brings a Taste of Austria to Bournemouth

The Pavilion Theatre in Bournemouth will host the Vienna Proms in September.

2010-08-17
BOURNEMOUTH, ENGLAND, August 17, 2010 (Press-News.org) Bournemouth is gearing up for the arrival of the Vienna Proms, a special musical event based on the "summer nights" concerts held in the Austrian capital.

Taking place at the Pavilion Theatre on September 6th, the occasion will feature a programme containing works of famous composers such as Johann Strauss, along with a number of his Austrian contemporaries from the Romantic period.

Classical music connoisseurs who step out from their Bournemouth hotels to enjoy the show should look out for a number of well-known waltzes and polkas.

Organisers have revealed that the proms will open with a rendition of the ever-popular Die Fledermaus, while the likes of The Blue Danube, Vienna Blood, Tritsch Tratsch Polka and many more favourites will also be given an airing.

Along with these classics, a variety of Strauss's other famous works - including the Pizzicato Polka, Tales from the Vienna Woods and Kaiser-Walzer - could also be included in the performance.

The night's entertainment will then be rounded off with a typically rousing version of the Radetsky March.

Tickets for the Vienna Proms cost either GBP17.50 or GBP19.50, depending on the position of the seating, while the doors of the Pavilion Theatre are set to open at 19:30 BST.

For more information on this event, visit the Pavilion Theatre website or contact the venue on 01202 456400.
