2011-06-14
TAMPA, FL, June 14, 2011 (Press-News.org) DIG Coaching Practice presents "Explaining ADHD to Your Child for the First Time," on Attention Talk Radio with host and attention coach Jeff Copper. In this program, Jeff talks with Keath Low, a psychotherapist with a background in child and adolescent psychology, on the task of explaining a diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder to a child. According to Keath, "Explaining ADHD to your child after he has been diagnosed can help remove the mystery surrounding the struggles he knows he's been having. It can also help a child feel a greater sense of control." Keath also offers helpful tips to prepare a parent for the task.

With her experience in working with children diagnosed with ADHD and their families, Keath Low is well-qualified to speak on the topic. She has helped families manage the disruptive behaviors that accompany oppositional defiant and conduct disorders and has led parenting groups and provided clinical supervision to other therapists and social workers. She has worked with school systems, classroom teachers, psychiatrists, pediatricians, and other professionals who interact with children and families dealing with ADHD.

Currently, she is ADHD guide for the New York Times' about.com Website. She is a contributing writer and expert panelist for iParenting.com, part of the Disney Family Internet Group, and has a clinical scientist appointment with the Center for Development and Learning at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. She is currently a full-time writing professional.
