LateRooms.com - Check Out Tribute to Fabio Mauri in Rome

Rome tourists can see the work of Fabio Mauri at an exhibition in the Eternal City.

2010-09-17
ROME, ITALY, September 17, 2010 (Press-News.org) Guests at 5 star hotels in Rome who are keen to see some top-notch art could head to the MAXXI and check out Tribute to Fabio Mauri.

The Rome-born artist passed away in the Eternal City last year and the museum has chosen to honour his memory with a stunning exhibition of his work, which will be on display until January 23rd 2011.

It is split into two sections - one being a collection of prints transferred on to canvas and arranged on the wall, while the other is an unusual piece that has been placed in the centre of the room.

The images from the first section of the exhibition come from a 1976 book entitled Manipolazione di Culture.

"Mauri drew on the original lithographs to create a series of plates, which he used for exhibitions in the years thereafter. The results are large canvas-backed photographs with a tripartite structure," explained the organisers.

Meanwhile, the second part of the display is called Il Muro Occidentale o del Pianto and was made in 1993.

It is formed from a series of bags, suitcases, chests and other similar items, with the venue noting that it is an explicit reference to the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem.

Tickets to enter the exhibition cost EUR11 (GBP9.20), with the art space opening from 11:00 to 19:00 local time between Tuesday and Sunday, except for Thursday, when it does not shut until 22:00. The building is closed on Mondays.

For more information on this event visit the MAXXI website or contact the venue on +39 06 3996 7350.
