The Top 4 (Most Effective) Tips for Small Businesses Looking to Embrace Social Media Marketing
2011-06-16
LONDON, ENGLAND, June 16, 2011 (Press-News.org) So you're reading this article, which probably means your business has either ventured into the world of social media and are finding yourselves a bit lost, or you're thinking of venturing in, but would like someone to point you in the right direction first.

Twitter, Facebook and Blogging sites are great places to start as you can find similar businesses to your own with followers and customers who have already expressed an interest in your type of product or service. But before I get onto discussing the all-important tips, you should know this: Social media marketing isn't something to shy away from. It's an incredibly powerful and an incredibly useful tool once you know how to use it. And by the end of this article you will.

1. Interact.

Social media marketing is all about being social. That sounds kind of obvious but you'd be surprised at how may businesses create a website and set up Twitter and Facebook accounts and then never interact with their customers. If you communicate with people, you see results. It's as simple as that. Talk about your products, talk about the news, talk about the salami and cheese sandwich you had for lunch. Go nuts: it's all helpful as long as you are active and engaging. But remember, it is vital to keep in mind your end goal, do you want customers to buy your product? Do you want them to sign up for a newsletter? Do you want them to share your content with their friends? Whatever your goal is, you should bear it in mind when engaging and interacting with your customers.

2. Build a support network for customers or clients.

Social media, when used correctly is a great way to support your customers or clients. A fantastic example is Heathrow Airport and their twitter feed during the volcanic ash calamity - they kept customers informed and calm by giving people clear and concise answers to anything they were worried about. If your customers have a problem with a product, or a query about a purchase, encourage them to ask you questions. Just don't forget to give them answers.

3. Consider offering an online discount.

If an individual is invested in your company or brand so much that they regularly check out your social media sites, consider putting some weekly offers up for them to look out for. It encourages loyalty and rewards your existing customers but you'll also begin attracting new customers too. This is an age old marketing tip, simply modernised through online social networking. If you are in the position to do this financially then it is amongst one the most effective techniques.

4. Links.

The end aim of embracing social media marketing is to increase your sales. Yes, it's great to build a social network of customers and communicate with them, but the sales are what keeps the business running. So please don't forget to link people to your website - where they can see what you offer in a more professional context. For businesses who don't have a website yet, I would seriously consider getting one. Websites like www.Basekit.com offer great personalised website builder packages on website templates that don't break the budget. Seeking Bankruptcy Protection to Discharge Student Loans

2011-06-16
Even with the economy beginning to recover, many former students are still struggling with loan debts. The average college graduate is leaving school with $24,000 in debt, estimates The Project on Student Debt, a study of the nonprofit The Institute for College Access and Success. And that does not even include professional school obligations. According to a 2003 American Bar Association study, average law school grad student loan debt even at that time was $70,000 to $80,000, and the figures are certainly higher now. Even worse, the average medical school graduate in ...

Dallas Motorcyclist, Sandwiched Between Two Cars, Survives

2011-06-16
Motorcyclists are well aware that drivers of cars and other vehicles on the road often "just don't see them" -- or at least claim not to see them. As a result, bikers learn to be very vigilant to avoid accidents. But sometimes there isn't much the biker can do to avoid a crash when the other driver is distracted or otherwise not paying attention, as Dallas motorcyclist Zacharie Perez learned recently. Perez, a 25-year-old Iraq War veteran, was riding his motorcycle on a Dallas tollway in March of this year when the cars ahead of him slowed down. The car behind ...

Proposed Hours of Service Regulations for Commercial Drivers

2011-06-16
On December 29, 2010, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) proposed revisions to regulations regarding the hours of service (HOS) for property-carrying commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers. This new rule was prompted by the federal agency's concerns about the impact of fatigued drivers on overall highway safety. However, the proposed regulations has prompted opponents to lobby the White House to maintain the current rule and abandon any attempt to change it. Under the proposed changes, the FMSCA favors a 10-hour service time limit on commercial drivers, ...

Debtors Filing Bankruptcy Have Rights Under HAMP

2011-06-16
Last June, new guidelines took effect that afforded homeowners greater protection in keeping their homes. The Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP) now allows homeowners to seek a modification even though they have filed for bankruptcy protection. Prior to this change, the mortgage company could deny the modification if the Chapter 7 debtor did not reaffirm the mortgage debt. This was a common fate for people who had lost their jobs and were unable to make their previous payments. HAMP now gives those seeking bankruptcy a way to stay in their home while making amends. ...

Video Hearings Being Used By SSA to Help With Case Backlog

2011-06-16
The Social Security Administration (SSA) has been plagued by a backlog for disability hearings for the last half dozen years. Underfunding and understaffing are part of the cause. Every year from 1998 through 2007, the President's Budget requested less than the Commissioner's requested budget, and Congress appropriated even less than the President's request. The number of pending cases has increased dramatically since 1999, reaching an all-time record high of 768,540 cases in December 2008. Through February 2009, the number dropped slightly to 765,527, but has ...

DUI Apps for Smartphones Controversial

2011-06-16
With a name like "DUI Dodger," you just know there's going to be a controversy. Campaigns against drunk driving have worked for years to send the message "don't drink and drive." Thousands of people are arrested every year for driving drunk. DUI Checkpoints One of the preferred methods of enforcement used by police is the DUI or sobriety checkpoints. The checkpoint allows police to funnel all traffic on a given road past officers, who screen for inebriated drivers. The constitutionality of these checkpoints was challenged back in the early ...

2011-06-16
According to the National Business Ethics Survey, 56 percent of employees claim to have witnessed serious workplace violations, but only half of these workers take steps to report them. While reporting workplace violations may distress some employees, the Whistleblower Protection Act and protection program, administered by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA), protects workers who participate in various reporting activities against employers who violate industry regulations, standards or ethics. Whistleblowers Whistleblowers play a key role in ...
