DALLAS, TX, June 16, 2011 (Press-News.org) Texas native author Randy Mitchell feels like his childhood happened just yesterday. He captures idyllic snapshots of his carefree youth in his first inspirational fiction novel, "Sons In The Clouds" (ISBN 9780615465838).
"My childhood memories comforted me over the years and carried me to a place of innocence where I longed to stay." Mitchell reminisces. "These cherished moments - hanging out with friends at the lake and enjoying lazy Texas summers as a teen - were the inspiration for Sons In The Clouds."
Mitchell, a long-time pilot, shares his love of aviation through the eyes of his main characters, Andy Stevenson and Wade Hamilton. Best friends growing up in Texas, the boys share the same dream of becoming fighter pilots. Appointments to Annapolis turn their boyhood dreams into reality, but ultimately lead them to the stark realities of the Vietnam War. Fate imprisons them together in one of the deadliest POW jungle prison camps. Along with an unwavering love of the women they leave behind and their unbreakable friendship, supernatural mercy helps them escape.
"Most inspirational fiction readers aren't interested in G-rated books. Sons In The Clouds is a modern, timeless story that encompasses spiritual themes while instilling a hope-filled message in readers long after the final page is read," says Mitchell.
"Sons in the Clouds" is now available on Amazon (http://amzn.to/k371j1) and Barnes & Noble (http://bit.ly/kEt5Qz) and iTunes http://bit.ly/lIvp9O. For more information about author Randy Mitchell, please visit http://www.theinspirationalwriter.com or his Facebook Page and Twitter.
