Jog.fm Launches Mobile Application

Boston company jog.fm launches a new mobile application to help runners stay healthy and motivated by selecting the best music for their workout from their mobile device.

2011-06-19
BOSTON, MA, June 19, 2011 (Press-News.org) Runners can now work out to a perfectly customized music playlist with just the touch of a button. Fitness music recommendation service jog.fm announced today an innovative new product to help runners get the most out of every run.

jog.fm's newly released mobile application uses an athlete's running pace and intensity to automatically select upbeat music with the same tempo as their steps. The application selects songs from a runner's music library to match their pace and assist in motivating them.

"Countless studies have shown the power of music in inspiring athletes and improving exercise performance," says jog.fm CEO Matt Venables. "We're just excited to be able to bring runners this power more easily."

"Fitness apps should help motivate you, but they should also be simple," says Venables. "With this app, users just need to run. The app will do the rest."

Runners also have the option of manually entering their desired mile or kilometer pace, and the app will serve as a constant pace-setter by playing songs to that beat. Additionally, athletes have access to speed controls, much like treadmill controls, which they can press during their run to play a faster, or slower, paced song.

"Our primary goal is to help motivate people to get off the couch. We think this app helps remove a few excuses and will help people get out the door." Venables further explains, "We believe the jog.fm application will revolutionize running. Imagine having a trainer and a DJ running with you all the time. That is what this app will be."

The jog.fm app is currently available for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch. An Android version will be released soon, company officials said.
