Arizona Insulating Products Help Homeowners Handle Rate Hikes

The manufacturers of Retrofoam, an Arizona insulating product, explain how it can help homeowners reduce costs even when utility prices go up.

2011-06-24
PHOENIX, AZ, June 24, 2011 (Press-News.org) The Arizona Public Service Co. (APS) plans to increase rates almost seven percent, notes Paul Kariniemi of Retrofoam, an Arizona insulating company. One of the best ways to deal with continually rising energy costs is to reduce energy use by installing wall insulation foam in Arizona.

APS asked regulators to permit a price hike which they estimate will raise the average household's costs by $8.36 a month. However those base rates don't include extra charges for alternative energy, conservation efforts, and fuel. Therefore the average homeowner's bill will increase even more. APS says it needs the price hikes to pay for the costs associated with alternative energy and system upgrades. The agency has increased its base rates four times since 2006. But this would be the first increase in 17 months. Were regulators to approve the plan, the new rates would not take effect until at least 2012.

"No matter what, energy prices will just continue to increase," observes Kariniemi of Retrofoam, an Arizona insulation business. "There is not much that the average homeowner can do about those increasing prices. The only thing you can control is the amount of energy you use."

Most homeowners don't realize how much money and energy they can save by simply retrofitting foam insulation. Retrofoam, reduces heat transmission through walls by 82 percent and decreases energy expenditures by 25 to 35 percent. Phoenix insulation Retrofoam is the only product available that is independently tested - and is odor-free and non-toxic.

Retro foam insulation may be installed directly into a wall cavity without requiring the removal of existing insulation or taking out walls. Therefore it's less costly than many other insulation products. Because it can be injected from the home's exterior, its installation won't disturb your home's interior. It's not flammable and fills in cracks in your walls, making it harder for bugs and other pests to enter your home.
