TUCSON, AZ, June 28, 2011 (Press-News.org) Rafael McCadden, Industrial and Logistics Director at Colliers International in Mexico City, recently sat down with The Offshore Group to discuss trends in the industrial real estate market currently affecting manufacturing in Mexico activities.
During the session, McCadden points out the differences characterizing today's Mexico industrial real estate market, when compared to those that were prevalent during the marked economic turbulence that dominated 2008, 2009 and the beginning of 2010.
In conversation, McCadden asserts that during this period, "there was not a lot of interest in Mexico by companies seeking to establish facilities during this time because of the financial crisis. The companies that were forward looking, however, moved to take advantage of the soft market in a way that will ultimately prove to be advantageous for their long-term plans and interests."
Furthermore, McCadden observes that much of the present demand for Mexican industrial real estate is being driven by movements within the automotive industry. Recent announcement of large scale projects by Mazda and Fiat to be executed in the State of Guanajuato and in the City of Toluca in the State of Mexico, respectively, will accelerate the investment by Tier 2 and Tier 3 suppliers over the medium term that "need to be right next to their customers' assembly facilities."
Individuals that are interested in learning about the present condition of Mexico's industrial real estate market are invited to listen to the podcast. It can be found in the "Cost Reduction Showcase" section of The Offshore Group's homepage. Additional Mexico outsourcing information can be accessed by subscribing to Offshore Group RSS Feeds.
