Canadian National Track and Field Championships Come To a Close

Records Fall Again on Beynon Track and Field Surface

2011-07-01
HUNT VALLEY, MD, July 01, 2011 (Press-News.org) The Canadian National Track and Field Championships have come to a close at the Foothills Athletic Park in Calgary, Alberta Canada.

The Championships were held on the brand new, IAAF certified, BSS 1000 track and field surface by Beynon Sports. Playteck Enterprises completed the installation of the Beynon track with impeccable workmanship and attention to detail. The event and the venue proved to be extremely successful and viewers saw numerous Canadian athletes achieve personal bests in multiple events.

Perdita Felician won her 10th National title since 1999 in the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 12.80 seconds proving that at 30 year old she is still a significant threat in the event. Perdita will bring her wealth of experience to the Track and Field World Championships in Daegu, South Korea.

The Canadian National Track and Field Championships also saw a double champion crowned in the women's 100 meter and 200 meter race as Toronto's Crystal Emmanuel became the first Canadian to accomplish the feat since Erica Witter did it in 2003.

Perhaps the biggest news coming out of Foothills Athletics Park was that Kamloops, British Columbia native Dylan Armstrong, not only won his 6th Canadian Track and Field Championship in the shot put, but throughout the competition he also broke the Canadian record four times and set the world mark for 2011 with a throw of 22.21 meters en route to his Gold Medal performance.

The BSS 1000 surface proved to be extremely fast, yet forgiving enough to provide optimal return of energy in the direction and time when the athlete required it most. With the 2012 London Olympics a little over a year away, Canadian athletes will have the benefit of competing and training on the Beynon BSS 1000 track and field surface at Foothills Athletic Park for 2012 National championships as well as the 2012 Olympic Track and Field National Team Trials.
