July 03, 2011 (Press-News.org) In May 2009, SGS Germany incorporated the Johnson Controls Europe Material and Weathering Lab, located in Grefrath, Germany. Adopting its equipment as a basis, the new automotive testing lab at SGS Institut Fresenius GmbH in Herten was created. The existing lab was rebuilt and expanded to host the complete test equipment and climate chambers in one place. SGS is now a Johnson Controls preferred supplier for all types of material testing (http://www.de.sgs.com/automotive_de_index/failure_and_damage_de-2/materials-de.htm).
The new automotive testing facility, with an efficient customer service and state-of-the-art laboratory, is able to provide consulting and testing for nearly all OEM specifications. Tests can be done in line with basic material and process development, product development, initial sample tests and product audits. Thanks to its flexible accreditation to DIN EN ISO 17025, the automotive testing lab is also able to develop new testing procedures. The lab is equipped to perform all necessary tests on materials like plastics and textiles as well as assembled parts such as complete instrument panels and doors.
