2011-07-07
CANCUN, MEXICO, July 06, 2011 (Press-News.org) Internationally renowned sculptor Jason DeCaires Taylor gave an award to Mr. Jose Luis Martinez, President of Lomas Travel Group, in recognition for his continuous support to the Underwater Art Museum in Cancun, Mexico.

The Underwater Art Museum is a project created to revitalize and protect four different reefs areas in Cancun and Isla Mujeres, main tourist destinations in the Mexican Caribbean, that attract more than 750,000 divers and snorkelers each year.

The project consists in submerging 403 life-size statues that will create in the barren sea bed, new coral reefs thriving with marine life. All sculptures have been designed by Mr. DeCaires, and will be made with concrete and other materials that promote coral colonization.

By the time the project is completed, these areas will not only benefit from the creation of new coral reefs, but will also be able to offer new opportunities for tourism and cultural events.

Mr. Martinez, as head of Lomas Travel Group, has been committed to the protection of natural resources for many years, and has decided to support this very innovative project in hopes of preserving the wonderful natural diversity of the Mexican Caribbean.

Lomas Travel has been delivering superior end to end service and attention as a tour operator since 1981.
