LOS ANGELES, CA, July 07, 2011 (Press-News.org) From "Cowboys and Aliens" to Spielberg/Abrams' "Super 8," America loves a good battle with aliens. Emerging Sci-Fi queen Rochelle Vallese is proving one fantasy flick at a time she's committed to the craft, spacecraft that is. Her latest film, "Alien Armageddon" (think an indie "Battle Los Angeles") thrills with the stuff summer movies are made of: alien attacks, monsters, sexy women, strong men, blood, guts, and explosions. The film invades Los Angeles Wednesday July 6th at the Bigfoot Crest Theater.
Vallese says her past sci-fi films like "Life on Mars," "Mind Machine," and "Humanity's End" helped prepare her for director Neil Johnson's latest thriller and marks her second starring role directed by Johnson (the first being "Humanity's End"). "It's always a unique, creative collaboration," Vallese says. "Working with Director Neil Johnson has been like traversing the galaxies in a spaceship manned by an incredibly skilled captain."
This emerging trend of actresses producing their own films is a smart strategy that has staying power. Female superstars like Sigourney Weaver who starred in and co-produced "Alien" and "Alien Resurrection," and "Battlestar Galactica's" Katee Sackhoff who's set to star in and produce the 2013 Sci-Fi comedy "Sexy Evil Genius," can now add Rochelle Vallese to the category of Sci-Fi actresses-turned-producers.
After past collaborative chemistry proved successful, Vallese signed on to star in and/or produce a total of 4 films under the banner Morphius Film with Neil Johnson, including "Alien Armageddon." Vallese will start pre-production on their next project this August, which she will star and produce entitled "Journey Without Distance." The busy actress also just wrapped "I-2," based on the new novel by James Bannon and a mysterious, sexy pilot based on the true stories of women private detectives, created by Anita Gregory and 2X Emmy nominated Lee Purcell (NBC's "Persons Unknown").
The film's poster dons a cool cowboy with a smoking pistol, but Vallese's 'Armageddon character Franci, is a chemical biologist with a big secret. When the world is invaded by an ancient race of aliens, the city of Los Angeles is fortified as an alien stronghold, and Franci is forced to decide the fate of two worlds. The film's tagline reads, "The only way to fight is from within."
The Sci-Fi Queen says the reason she loves the extraterrestrial fantasy is, "You get to go beyond the story the world dictates and you can allow yourself to let go and believe all things are possible."
"Many say it was Star Wars that hooked them, but for me it was E.T. that made me fall in love with the universe and it's beings!" Vallese says.
