It primarily receives ePub content from the iBookstore, but users can also add other eBooks via data synchronization with iTunes. Additionally, they can be downloaded to iBooks through Safari or Apple Mail.
PDF files often can be transferred to iPad from Mac through steps:
1. Add PDFs to iTunes library;
2. Connect iPad to Mac;
3. Sync PDF from Mac to iPad with iTunes. Then you are able to read PDF eBooks with iBooks on iPad. However, to finish above steps iTunes 10 is essential. The lower version of iTunes may not work. What's more, the PDF contents in iPad are un-reflowable, and because PDF eBooks are not like ePub which can be displayed on a whole screen of iPad.
