PHUKET, THAILAND, July 14, 2011 (Press-News.org) This important environmental conference will examine the link between forests and wetlands and integrated biodiversity conservation. The year 2011 is the United Nations International Year of Forests. The Symposium organisers include the Sabah State government, together with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Malaysia and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The organisers are keen that representatives of both governmental and non-governmental organisations should attend, as well as students, environmentalists, and businesses. The intense, two-day schedule will allow participants to visit a local wetlands site on day two of the conference. Starting at 6am, before the day's main business, visitors can see the local Kota Kinabalu Wetlands Centre. Anyone wishing to take part in this excursion can do so free of charge, as fees are included in the price of attending the symposium.
The hotel in Johor Bahru is an ideal location to use as a base for the symposium and there are many buses to and from the Symposium.
The organisers have asked that all fees be paid in Malay currency. The registration fee is RM 300 cash for international visitors and RM 150 for domestic participants. The organisers would also like to remind anyone attending that they must ensure that all visa requirements have been fulfilled.
