PLEASANTON, CA, July 25, 2011 (Press-News.org) Dahlin Group Architecture Planning has named Thomas Johnson Director of Development, and has opened a new office in Shanghai, China. Dahlin Group founder and President Doug Dahlin said both moves reflect the firm's expanding presence in Asian markets, begun more than a decade ago in Beijing.

"Shanghai is the hub of design and planning for major residential, resort, retail and commercial development in China, Singapore, India and other rising world economies," said Dahlin. "With our Beijing and Hangzhou offices, the Shanghai office adds significant capacity to our international commissions."

Dahlin said Johnson will lead business development in these markets, and in the U.S. "Thomas's depth of experience with master-planned communities, high end hospitality venues, golf course resorts and specialty interiors such as hotels and retail destinations, is invaluable," said Dahlin. "His expertise and leadership will benefit clients in Shanghai and other global markets, and in our expanding markets in the U.S."

Johnson comes to Dahlin Group with an extensive background in international hospitality design, as principal of KNA Design in Los Angeles and as director of marketing and business development for HBA/Hirsch Bedner Associates of Santa Monica. His professional background includes international golf course design and resort planning, for projects in Greece, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand, and throughout the U.S.
