ATLANTA, GA, July 29, 2011 (Press-News.org) Atlanta shredding company Shred-Green will be participating in a fundraiser this Friday, July 29, to benefit the Gwinnett Masters Special Olympics (GMSO), a county affiliate of the Georgia Special Olympics Organization. Shred-Green is a long-term sponsor of GMSO, previously held an Atlanta paper shredding charity event to benefit the organization in October of last year. This year the company has teamed up with the Lilburn Farmers Market to sponsor the sale of water bottles as a fundraiser.
As a volunteer-run nonprofit charity, the Gwinnett Masters Special Olympics is dedicated to providing mentally challenged adults in Gwinnett County with the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports programs, promoting interpersonal connections and self-confidence. With the lack of programming and state grants available for these adults after high school, GMSO must rely solely on fundraising to keep the organization afloat.
An athlete can be sponsored for a year with just one dollar a day, a small price that goes a long way, as Kathy Perkins, co-owner of Atlanta document shredding company Shred-Green, can attest. Ms. Perkins has volunteered multiple times for the Gwinnett Masters Special Olympics, and currently serves as secretary on the GMSO advisory board. As a dedicated advocate to GMSO, she knows what a big difference a small amount can make. "It's a wonderful cause," remarks Perkins, "one that we at Shred-Green are always happy to support. We look forward to further opportunities to support the Gwinnett Masters Special Olympics and to reach out to our local community here in Gwinnett County."
Shred-Green is committed to community outreach, and is frequently involved in educational programs or charitable Atlanta shredding events. Perkins and her team are especially enthusiastic about their fundraising efforts with the Gwinnett Masters Special Olympics and encourage all to come out and support the event.
The fundraiser will take place on Friday, July 29th from 4pm to 8pm at the Lilburn Farmers Market, located on the Greenway Trail Parking Lot. Parking can be found next to the Lilburn City Hall at the Lilburn City Park parking lot.
