Data Doctor Office Technology Systems Hosts SaaS Application with Online Tech at HIPAA Compliant Data Center

Medical Research Software Development Company Saves Money with Online Tech's SSAE 16 Certified Data Centers

2011-07-29
ANN ARBOR, MI, July 29, 2011 (Press-News.org) Data Doctor Office Technology Systems (DDOTS), a medical research software development company, has partnered with Online Tech to host their Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions in Online Tech's SSAE 16 compliant data centers.

"It is a huge financial benefit for our company to partner with Online Tech. We have a lot of patient health information in our systems, and we wouldn't have a clue on how to qualify a server for SSAE 16 audits or HIPAA compliance," says Stephen Burke, CEO of DDOTS.

By hosting their SaaS applications in Online Tech's SSAE 16 data centers, DDOTS saves the expense of managing their own servers, investing in IT capital, and handling infrastructure related HIPAA requirements. Many of the same uptime and security standards, that are documented for Online Tech's SSAE 16 Type II audits, allow DDOTS and their clients to trust that they have done due diligence to protect the privacy and availability of their patient health information (PHI) - all key aspects for meeting HIPAA compliance.

Online Tech helps health care organizations achieve the privacy requirements of HIPAA compliance with strict physical and network security and audited change logs. Online Tech's infrastructure design incorporates fully redundant power, network, and backup into a network of high availability data centers, located over 50 miles apart, to provide uninterruptible power and network connection with no single point of failure.

DDOTS also extends Online Tech's HIPAA compliant hosting services to their clients. According to Burke, almost every DDOTS client asks for HIPAA compliance documentation. "It is nice to be able to say when asked if we are HIPAA compliant to answer - absolutely," states Burke.

By having customers host their websites in one centralized location, DDOTS can provide customer support more cost effectively. DDOTS' technical staff has just one central location to access to help with customer support issues, installing upgrading or enhancements and manage other technical support issues.

"Online Tech has become a key part of what we do. We couldn't do what we do today without the support and services that Online Tech provides us," says Burke.
