CT Challenge Day in Hartford Draws Legislators

Capitol Event Raises Awareness of Issues Cancer Survivors Face

2011-07-29
STAMFORD, CT, July 29, 2011 (Press-News.org) Connecticut Challenge Day at the Capitol in Hartford took place in June, sponsored by State Representative Tony Hwang of Fairfield and Senatior Eric Coleman, to make legislators aware of the issues cancer survivors face and the role of the CT Challenge, as the sole organization in the state devoted exclusively to to helping cancer survivors, in creating and funding programs to help cancer survivors throughout Connecticut.
Flanked by Rep. Tony Hwand and Sen. Eric Coleman, CT Challenge Founder Jeff Keith Spoke about the CT Challenge mission to empower cancer survivors, followed by Bob Mazzone, Executive Director of the CT Challenge, who announced the Annual CT Challenge Bike Ride.
"This ride is so unique and inspiring and I am very proud to once again assist with this great cause," said Rep. Hwang. "Nearly everyone knows someone who is battling cancer or has battled cancer. This event is about supporting the ones we love and helping them through the trials and traumas that go along with fighting and beating cancer."
"Most people don't realize that after a person is diagnosed with cancer and undergoes the radical treatments of chemotherapy, surgery and radiation that they are forever changed. Even if they make it throug, which happily over 67% do, their bodies are different," explains Bob Mazzone, Executive Director of the CT Challenge. "Developing and funding resources that help cancer survivors live longer, happier, healthier lives is our mission."
The CT Challenge raises funds to support survivorship programs through the Annual CT Challenge Bike Ride, which takes place this year on July 30, 2011 at the Fairfield County Hunt Club in Westport. It's a fun filled day for families and cyclists of all ages. Over 1000 riders are expected to participate and raise over $1millon to benefit the cancer survivorship programs of the CT Challenge. Learn more and register to ride at bike.ctchallenge.org.

Is Racisim Still A Issue In Today's Society?

2011-07-29
The Other Side is written by Terry and Margaret Moran. I enjoyed reading this book because the authors did a nice job of setting the scene. When reading, you can visualize the actions, people, environment and political issue. The authors do a great job of painting the picture of tensions between blacks and whites in the 1960's. The overall plot and organization was fantastic. The book will keep you on the edge of your seat and wanting to read more. At first I thought this book was going to be another hate driven book. When I reached chapter three the book, the tale took ...
