Dana Point Turkey Trot Announces Early Line-Up of Sponsors for 2011 Race Event

Orange County Organizations Rally to Support the Local Thanksgiving Day Running Tradition

2011-08-19
CARLSBAD, CA, August 19, 2011 (Press-News.org) Just two months after registration opened for the 34th annual Dana Point Turkey Trot (www.turkeytrot.com), the Dana Point Chamber of Commerce, producer of the event, is pleased to announce nine sponsors of this year's race: City of Dana Point; Clif Bar & Company; Hodel Briggs Winter LLP; Independence Bank of San Juan Capistrano; Lantern Bay Village; Taste of Brews Dana Point; The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel; Vintage Marina Partners; and Vivos Fitness.

Brian Dunn, General Manager of Vintage Marina Partners and Embarcadero Marina for the Orange County Dana Point Harbor, noted "The Dana Point Turkey Trot is a wonderful event for the Harbor and the whole community, bringing 16,000 runners and their friends and family to our area from all over Southern California. The two-day expo and the race are great opportunities for us to showcase the fantastic shops, restaurants, and amenities the Harbor has to offer."

Hodel Briggs Winter LLP, located in Irvine, is not only making the commitment to support the Turkey Trot as a local sponsor, but the law firm is also sponsoring the registration of its employees and clients for this year's race. Last year, the firm had over 135 participants, including employees, family members and friends. Glenn Briggs, partner of Hodel Briggs Winter LLP, noted: "It's been too long to remember the first Turkey Trot I ran, but when we opened our law firm, I felt the Dana Point Turkey Trot was a charitable event we should support through race sponsorship and assembling our own team of runners, which last year included 135 runners. The race is a good reminder to all of us that there are many people in the County who are less fortunate and have to think about when or where their next meal will be. Each Thanksgiving we can go home from the Turkey Trot knowing we earned the right to gorge all day from both a philanthropic and caloric standpoint."
The Dana Point Turkey Trot opened registration on June 1, in honor of National Running Day. As "one of America's best Thanksgiving Day runs," according to Fitness Magazine, the Dana Point Turkey Trot is known for its scenic routes, beautiful Southern California weather, and family-friendly activities. Produced by the Dana Point Chamber of Commerce and RUN Racing, the Dana Point Turkey Trot has become an Orange County tradition, attracting more than 16,000 participants, including friends and family, to its 5K, 10K, Kids' Gobble Wobble, and two-day health and fitness expo and finish line festival.

With registration numbers already surpassing previous years by this time, sponsorships of the Dana Point Turkey Trot are still available to reach the thousands of runners, athletes, and community members, all while making a vital impact on the local economy.

Laura Ouimet, Executive Director for the Dana Point Chamber of Commerce, added, "This year's Turkey Trot is sure to be the best yet. Our participants and sponsors gave us feedback and we listened. Enhancements this year include wave starts based on anticipated race times to alleviate congestion and improving the finish-line festival. Plus, we help fundraise for Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County and the Dana Point 5th Marine Regiment, accepting donations through our on-line registration." Over the past ten years, the Dana Point Turkey Trot has helped to raise more than $250,000 for Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.
