Bay Area Circuits, Inc Completes ITAR Certification in Order to Provide United States Government Additional Manufacturing Source

Continually striving to meet the ever changing demands of PCB Manufacturing, Bay Area Circuits, Inc is announcing the recent ITAR certification as a part of their ongoing quality assurance program.

2011-08-25
REDWOOD CITY, CA, August 25, 2011 (Press-News.org) According to a market analysis prepared for the U.S. Air Force by IPC — Association Connecting Electronics Industries shows an estimated one-third of all PCBs for U.S. defense or military systems are produced outside North America.

Based on data from IPC's market research, as well as data from N.T. Information and other electronics industry consultants, IPC's analysis concluded that the value of the U.S. military market for PCBs is between $1.05 billion and $1.23 billion. Depending on the market size estimate used, between 27 and 39% of all PCBs in products sold to the U.S. military are manufactured outside North America.

That means that much of US technology is being built in Non-ITAR approved manufacturing facilities.

"We wanted to do our small part in trying to keep this very important and security sensitive technology work here in the in United States. Completing the difficult process to secure the ITAR certification was not optional." Says Stephen Garcia VP of Operations.

International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) is a set of United States government regulations that control the export and import of defense-related articles and services on the United States Munitions List (USML).
