Seattle-based Band Puget Sound System Release Rock Fusion Album

Puget Sound System is a tight rock ensemble that fuses a variety of music genre running the gamut of reggae, alternative rock, and hip-hop.

2011-08-27
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA, August 27, 2011 (Press-News.org) With a name like Puget Sound System, you're not exactly sure what to make of it. But the Seattle, Washington members of the band can school you on what they really do. They do music, they fuse reggae, rock, and hip-hop, and they're making a scene, sharing their unique sound to the uninformed masses and delivering the goods.

Puget Sound System was formed in 2007 by friends T.J. Taylor and Erik Madsen on guitar and vocals. Rounding up the crew was Brett Bailie on drums and together, their love for reggae and hip-hop was solidified, cranking out covers and then original tunes. Their band name comes from a body of water that separates Seattle from other islands. As Puget Sound System, they decided to steer clear of the roots-y reggae sound and to focus more on composing lyrical hip-hop. Their music seemed like a mix of music artists Sublime, Eminem, Bone Thugs 'N' Harmony, 2PAC, Matisyahu, Roots, Gym Class Heroes, No Doubt, Pepper, and Slightly Stoopid - not bad at all. Soon after, the band had a cult following. The original Puget Sound System had to change, though, leaving T.J. Taylor (guitar/vocals) at the helm and continuing to sell their CD's. T.J. found himself with a new crew in Austin Langford (bass), Frank Arcega (guitar/vocals), Paul Vingo (trombone), and Jordan Clark (drums). Aside from Puget Sound System, T.J. Taylor also has a side project called We The People.

To date, Puget Sound System is all about performing, getting their music out there, and entertaining people of all ages, shapes and sizes. Their easy-breezy band personality may seem off-putting to some; on their Facebook page they cite 'nice people, laughing, good melodies, green things, and great scenery' as their influences, after all. But Puget Sound System are hard core and passionate musicians, creating great tunes worth listening to and recommending to others. Currently, the band's touring the country, from Seattle, Los Angeles, Orange County, and even to Salt Lake City.

You may download Puget Sound System's music at iTunes distributed by JMD Records and INgrooves, a partner of Universal Music Group.
