BROOKLYN, NY, September 01, 2011 (Press-News.org) As New York City braced itself Friday for the devastating impact of Hurricane Irene, Centers for Specialty Care Group facilities and staff prepared all available space and resources to accept individuals from NYC nursing homes that were ordered to evacuate.
Available online at http://www.CFSCGOnline.com and operated by CEO Kenneth Rozenberg, Centers for Specialty Care Group opened the doors of Brooklyn Center, Bushwick Center, Bronx Center, Queens Center, Holliswood Care Center and Boro Park Center to accept any residents displaced due to the impending storm and prepared the facilities to ensure that the incoming guests received all care necessary. The facility administrators were instructed to prepare any available space and to ensure adequate staffing and that supplies would be available for as long as necessary.
"We have always prided ourselves on being facilities that are there for the community and today will be no exception. This is an all hands on deck call," said Centers for Specialty Care Group Executive Director, Jeremy B. Strauss.
Centers for Specialty Care Group welcomed many of the transplanted nursing home patients to three of its Brooklyn rehab centers in New York, affording them safety from the storm in locations accessible to their families and friends. Located on 50 Sheffield Ave. in Brooklyn, N.Y., the 225-bed Bushwick Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare, known for its comprehensive adult day care program and upcoming dialysis treatment center, participated in this effort by housing 27 of the evacuated. Additional patients were housed in the Brooklyn Center for Rehabilitation and Residential Healthcare on 1455 Coney Island Ave., a 215-bed facility that took in 27, and the 354-bed Boro Park Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare on 4915 10th Ave., a recent acquisition for Centers for Specialty Care Group that made space for 22.
Two of Centers for Specialty Care Group's Queens facilities also leant a hand. The 314-bed Holliswood Care Center, at 195-44 Woodhull Ave. in Jamaica, N.Y., took in nine evacuated patients, while the 179-bed Queens Center for Rehabilitation and Residential Healthcare, located at 157-15 19th Ave. in Whitestone, N.Y., housed an additional nine. The Bronx Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare, recognized for its state-of-the-art 20-station kidney dialysis center, took in three patients as well.
Under the leadership of Kenneth Rozenberg, CEO, and Executive Director Jeremy B Strauss, Centers for Specialty Care Group currently owns and operates 16 residential nursing facilities within New York State, with specialities in long and short term rehab, bariatric recovery, hip and knee rehabilitation, dialysis treatment, and more.
Centers for Specialty Care Group manages facilities in upstate New York, including the Rome, Suffolk, Dutchess, and Chittenango centers, ideal for patients eager to escape the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. The upstate and NYC nursing home network recently welcomed the Waterfront Care Centers in Buffalo, N.Y., a bi-lingual facility specializing in dementia care and IV therapy, to the Centers for Specialty Care Group family.
