SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA, September 02, 2011 (Press-News.org) Seoul is to play host to a unique musical event this October with the return of the Seoul International Computer Music Festival (SICMF).

Taking place at the Jayu Theater venue in Seoul Arts Center, the event is one of the biggest electro-acoustic music festivals in Asia and is currently in its 18th successful year.

It will aim to showcase a range of cutting-edge music created using computers, music technology and multimedia tools, with categories including taped and live performances, electro-acoustic music with instruments and audiovisual media art.

At last year's festival, organisers received around 200 submissions, which were whittled down to a final presentation of 22 works that reflect the way in which modern technology is creating new avenues for creative expression.

The full programme for SICMF 2011 is yet to be fully confirmed, with 2010's event featuring a special guest appearance by Ensemble Aventure, one of Europe's oldest and most renowned musical ensembles.

SICMF is organised with the support of the Korea Electro-Acoustic Music Society and has been taking place since 1994.
