MOSCOW, RUSSIA, September 02, 2011 (Press-News.org) 10-Strike Network Inventory Explorer is designed to audit hardware and software assets over the network and provide its user with detailed and accurate reports on any data gathered by the program. With the extensive reports provided by the program, a system administrator can plan upgrades more accurately and promptly, and significantly decrease upgrade costs. The program enables the administrator to decide what to buy without wasting time and effort on checking everything manually. The license audit feature helps to count installed applications, track serial numbers, and find unlicensed software.
The main change in the version 4.3 comparing to previous versions is the S.M.A.R.T. technology supported. The program can gather the S.M.A.R.T. information from remote computers´ hard drives via a network. Mechanical failures account for about 60% of all hard drive failures. Often, the failures can be predicted using S.M.A.R.T. when the number of damaged disk sectors increases or the drive is overheated. A system administrator can examine the S.M.A.R.T. attributes, monitor hard drives´ temperature and reliability parameters, thus predicting failures. He can fix problem HDDs or change coolers in time preventing hard drive failures and data loss on the monitored computers.
The information collected by the program after the first audit is logged so that an administrator could track the history of changes of hardware and software on future scans. This history log includes information on installed and uninstalled software, added and removed devices (even USB flash drives), and changes in the system configuration, for example, new users, hotfixes and updates installed, new startup items, etc. The program can be configured to update the inventory data automatically and send the information on the changed items to the user via email. This can prevent potential operating system problems and even track the available disk space, thus maximizing productivity and stability of the monitored machines.
The new version also contains bug fixes and the program interface improvements for better computer groups´ management.
