Third Annual Dress for Success Scheduled for Tuesday, September 13

Event designed for jobseekers who would like to brush up on their interviewing skills

2011-09-02
FARMINGTON HILLS, MI, September 02, 2011 (Press-News.org) The National Council of Jewish Women, Greater Detroit Section will host its third annual event for job seekers, Dress For Success, Tuesday, September 13 2011, at the organization's Council ReSale in Berkley (3297 West 12 Mile Road) from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

Dress for Success is designed for jobseekers who would like to brush up on their interviewing skills and those interested in learning how to update their work wardrobe on a budget.

Karen Gutman, an employment specialist from the Jewish Vocational Service (JVS), will be on hand to provide tips on resume writing, networking and job search skills. Topics of her presentation will include: the value of image in a successful job search, attire and appearance and how your image fits with your company. JVS is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization, offering career and employment services for more than 60 years.

"With the job market picking up, NCJW/GDS wanted to get in front of job seekers earlier in the year than we have since the beginning of the program," said Susan Gertner, executive director of the National Council of Jewish Women, Greater Detroit Section. "We wanted to make sure that metro Detroiters present themselves to potential employers in the best light possible - all while on a budget. That little extra bit of confidence that comes with dressing well goes a long way."

At the Council Resale Shops, all items are marked at a discount, giving attendees the opportunity to browse store racks for new suits, shoes, briefcases and other work-related apparel and accessories. Attendees will receive 20 percent off all clothing and accessory purchases on the day of the event. Limitations may apply.

Funds from Council Resale Shops support non-profit projects across metro Detroit and make programs like Dress for Success possible.
There is no charge to attend and reservations are not required. For more information, please call Council ReSale at 248-548-6664.

Sales from the Council Resale support more than 25 projects of NCJW/GDS, including Dress for Success, Wrapped in Love, Project Friendship, Kosher Meals on Wheels, All Kids Playground, Safe Place, Strategies to Prevent Domestic Abuse, literacy outreach and Bookstock.
