Townspeople were horrified, and Dr. Amhurst was nowhere to be found, though police discovered what they suspect were the remains of his late wife. The police arrived when one of his patients miraculously managed to escape and tell the world of the horror she witnessed. The building has been abandoned for decades. Explorers of the old asylum have a mysterious tendency to disappear — are you any different?

Amhurst Asylum will be open from 7 to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursdays and Sundays, as well as on Halloween night.

Amhurst Asylum haunted house can be found at 228 South 500 West in Valparaiso, Indiana. Thrill-seekers coming from Chicago should take I-94 to I-65S, getting off at exit US-30E and turning right at 500 CR. Tickets can be bought online or at the door for $20 per person. No one under the age of 13 will be permitted entry without being accompanied by a legal guardian.
