9th Annual Legends Fight Night Brings Stars and Community Together For A Great Cause

Las Vegas-Style Boxing Match Brings Excitement And Philanthropy To Chicago

CHICAGO, IL, October 22, 2011

Chicago residents will have their fight cards filled today, as The OpenField Foundation hosts the 9th Annual Legends Fight Night charity boxing event at Soldier Field. A Las Vegas-style event with something for everyone, proceeds raised this year will benefit the broad efforts of OpenField Foundation as well as two benefactor charities, Walking With Anthony and the Semper Fi Fund, while honoring "Irish" Micky Ward as the Legend Honoree.

Unlike any other event of its kind, Legends Fight Night combines the thrill of a golden gloves-style card, with live entertainment by American English and a silent auction and raffle to make for a night of good fun for a good cause. The two charities receiving benefits, Walking With Anthony, a foundation which aims to help fund rehabilitation for spinal cord injury victims as well as rehabilitation centers and research, and the Semper Fi Fund, an organization that provides financial assistance to injured and critically ill members of the armed forces, are both honored and excited to be involved in an event that is quickly becoming a local favorite. Legends honoree "Irish" Mickey Ward is a junior welterweight who has seen multiple champion comebacks throughout his career, and his true-life story of triumph depicted in the 2010 Oscar-winning film "The Fighter." With celebrity attendees expected to make appearances, such as "The Fighter" star Mark Wahlberg, Chicago Bears Dan Hampton, Gale Sayers and Willie Gault, fans can expect an exciting and memorable evening.

"Every year, Legends Fight Night raises the bar by giving attendees their money's worth with a fun mix of entertainment for everyone!" said Founder Neal Wilkinson. "This is not your typical charity event. You won't see any banquet tables, rubber chicken dinners or long speeches. No suits allowed. Come ready to cheer, laugh, sing and GIVE for some amazing causes."

Legends Fight Night takes place on October 20 at 7pm at Soldier Field in Chicago. Ticket packages range from $250-$15,000 and can be purchased on the website. For more information on the event and ticket sales, visit http://www.legendsfightnight.com.
