GAUTENG, SOUTH AFRICA, November 03, 2011 (Press-News.org) As the icon for his campaign, Chris Winspear is designing a signature brooch in the form of an AIDS ribbon. The piece of jewellery is made of 18 carat white gold, set with rubies.
The second important aspect of the AIDS Brooch campaign are the support certificates, which will be signed by local celebrities like Jen Su, Jason Greer, Connie Ferguson and Leanne Mol. Also 5fm gives the campaign its nod of approval by featuring it on their 'Young Blood 5' initiative.
The highlight of the campaign will be the auction at the AIDS Brooch Gala. The event will be hosted at the Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! in Melrose Arch (Johannesburg), where the guests are welcome to bid for the signature brooch combined with the certificates . All proceeds are to be donated to St. Francis, a NGO that takes care of HIV positive children and adults.
Beside the signature piece, Chris Winspear is designing replica pins of the brooch, which will be available at the Gala and on the designer's homepage for public purchase. A percentage of the sold pieces will be donated to charity. With the AIDS Brooch campaign Chris Winspear is supporting World AIDS Day and breathing new life into a very important cause.
