Jacquelynn Carmichael and Jordan Kendall Honored
Prominent litigation attorneys win prestigious 'Article of the Year' award.

Victims' Rights Attorneys Jacquelynn Carmichael and Jordan Kendall of the Salt Lake City firm Eisenberg & Gilchrist, LLC are the winners of the Utah Association for Justice's 'Article of the Year' award for 2009-2010.Carmichael and Kendall were bestowed with the honor on September 9 at the Utah Trial Lawyers Annual Convention in Salt Lake City. The duo co-authored an article discussing the commonly used medical-malpractice litigation tactic where defense counsel improperly makes ex parte contact with the plaintiff's treating physicians.
"It is an astonishingly frequent occurrence where defense counsel will either initiate ex-parte contact with our clients' physicians who are employed by the defendant or else attempt to block our ability to speak with those same physicians," Carmichael explains. "It is something Jordan (Kendall) and I feel strongly about - having faced this problem on multiple occasions. We hope our article will direct more attention to this issue."
For over fifteen years, Carmichael has been a practicing personal injury lawyer for plaintiffs. She graduated from The University of Utah's College of Law and is a partner in the Salt Lake City law firm Eisenberg & Gilchrist. She has served on both the Lawyers Helping Lawyers and the Character and Fitness Committees of the Utah State Bar.
Kendall graduated magna cum laude from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2005. For five years his practice has focused on products liability, premises liability, wrongful death, and trucking accident cases. He was recognized as a Mountain States Super Lawyer 'Rising Star' in 2009.
