WINCHESTER, VA, November 23, 2011 (Press-News.org) People with loved ones affected by Alzheimer's disease in the Tri-State area will soon have an alternative to traditional residential care. Evergreen Health & Rehab announces the opening of Journey, a new Alzheimer's care unit, in December 2011.
Journey at Evergreen Health & Rehab gives family members an alternative to traditional long-term Alzheimer's care. Every aspect of the unit's design from the decor to the meals to the quiet atmosphere creates a soothing, home-like setting that promotes dignity and allows memory-impaired residents to live life to the fullest.
Journey features unique living areas such as an enclosed walking path and activity areas, in addition to a separate dining room and kitchen. All outside entrances are secured to ensure the residents' well-being.
"We want to provide an experience that makes our residents feel like they did in their own homes," said Ramona Ringstaff, Evergreen Health & Rehab Administrator. "We help preserve our residents' precious memories while offering a long-term care
solution that they and their families will feel good about. Our philosophy is to adapt to meet their needs, not reorient them to meet ours.
"Our dedicated, specially trained Alzheimer's staff will be on hand to explain the benefits of our design features, services and programming," said Ringstaff. "We're in the process of planning an open house to showcase our new unit, offer a tour, and answer any questions about living with Alzheimer's disease. Everyone will be invited to the open house and we'll release more details as soon as possible."
For more information about Journey at Evergreen Health & Rehab, please call Terri George, Admissions Liaison, at 540-667-7010.
