DUBAI, UAE, December 20, 2011 (Press-News.org) IWC Schaffhausen, the official watch partner of the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF), presented Peter Lindbergh's Portofino exhibition during the official charity evening of the DIFF and Oxfam International. The gala dinner and the charity auction were followed by an IWC hosted, exclusive after-party with a special performance by Friend of the Brand Ronan Keating. The glamorous event took place at the Armani Hotel and attracted more than 500 guests - including international and local celebrities.
IWC Schaffhausen is the official watch partner of the DIFF. For the Swiss watch manufacturer, this is not the first encounter with film-making. Many of IWC's partnerships with Friends of the Brand from the film industry demonstrate this link: both film-making and watchmaking require passion and profound know-how. "It is an honour for IWC to be part of the Dubai International Film Festival and the charity evening. Dubai is an important region for our company, and this partnership gives us the opportunity to share our passion for Corporate Social Responsibility," said CEO Georges Kern. "Peter Lindbergh's Portofino exhibition toured cities around the globe in 2011. We are very happy to be here in Dubai for the closing night of our exhibition," he added.
In May 2010, Peter Lindbergh, one of the world's greatest photographers, portrayed IWC's Friends of the Brand, including Cate Blanchett, Kevin Spacey, Elle Macpherson, Ronan Keating and many more against the nostalgic backdrop of a 1950s/60s-style Hollywood film set in the true spirit and irresistible elegance of Portofino. Whether it was Cate Blanchett eating an ice cream whilst clutching Kevin Spacey's arm, Elle Macpherson and Eric Dane on a scooter radiating genuine Italian lifestyle, or Luís Figo and Matthew Fox aboard a sleek powerboat - the cast had a wonderful time, which is clearly reflected in all of the brilliant images. The resulting exhibition, "Peter Lindbergh's Portofino", consists of a series of impressive black-and-white photographs that were showcased in Dubai as the final stop of the exhibition's world tour.
"A night in Portofino" was an unforgettable event that treated more than 500 international and local guests to a gallery-like setting displaying selected photos from the world-class exhibition. To underline its CSR activities, IWC donated a unique Portuguese Tourbillon Hand-Wound for the charity auction on behalf of Dubai Cares and Oxfam International. The evening was concluded by a glamorous after-party with an exclusive performance by IWC Friend of the Brand and singer Ronan Keating, whose songs had the crowd dancing away into the night.
