Boardman and Lathrop Partners Form New Firm

Boardman & Clark LLP is the second largest Madison-based law firm.

MADISON, WI, December 29, 2011 (Press-News.org) The partners of two well-known Madison, Wisconsin area law firms, Boardman, Suhr, Curry & Field LLP and Lathrop & Clark LLP, have announced that they are forming a new partnership as of January 1, 2012. The new firm, Boardman & Clark LLP, will have nearly 70 lawyers, making it the second largest Madison-based law firm.

"It's a natural fit - both firms are committed to providing the highest quality legal services, with the highest ethical standards. We will enhance the strengths of both firms by joining together," said James Bartzen, who will chair Boardman & Clark's managing committee.

Boardman, Suhr, Curry & Field LLP is one of the oldest law firms in Wisconsin, with roots dating back to 1881 when Robert LaFollette began his law practice in Madison. Lathrop & Clark LLP has also been a part of the Madison community and surrounding area for more than 100 years. Over time, both firms have developed outstanding reputations, both locally and regionally, and have expanded with office locations in a number of neighboring communities.

Boardman & Clark LLP will continue serving individuals, businesses and local governments, with a focus on banks, health care organizations, auto dealerships, school districts municipal utilities and insurance companies.

"Boardman & Clark's position as one of the largest Madison-based law firms will allow it to provide exceptional legal services across a wide range of practice areas," said Paul Johnson from Lathrop & Clark. "We believe this will benefit our existing clients and allow us to grow into new markets."

The new firm will be headquartered at the expanded offices of the current Boardman Law Firm location at 1 South Pinckney Street, Fourth Floor, on the Capitol Square in downtown Madison, and will continue to have offices in the surrounding communities of Baraboo, Poynette, Lodi, Prairie du Sac and Belleville.
