AsiaRooms.com - See United Buddy Bears Exhibition in Kuala Lumpur

The United Buddy Bears exhibition has arrived in Kuala Lumpur to help promote a message of tolerance and international cooperation.

2012-01-05
KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, January 05, 2012 (Press-News.org) Visitors to Kuala Lumpur over the coming weeks will have the opportunity to see the United Buddy Bears exhibition, which is now being held in the Malaysian capital.

Taking place downtown on Jalan Bukit Bintag, the special display sees 143 specially designed bear statues lining the streets in order to raise awareness of charity programmes, as well as spreading a message of global brotherhood and tolerance.

The programme was originally launched in Berlin in 2002 and has travelled to more than 15 countries, with Malaysia being the first nation in south-east Asia to be selected as a venue for the tour.

Launched on December 8th 2011, the exhibition will run until February 15th 2012 and will coincide with various events, including visits from local children, colouring activities and an auction to raise money for youth charities.

A Malaysian bear has been created by local artist Imuda especially for the Kuala Lumpur show, with imagery symbolising the nation's races, cultural landmarks and flora and fauna.

City mayor Tan Sri Ahmad Fuad Ismail said: "I am pleased that Kuala Lumpur is given the unique opportunity to help spread the message of tolerance and international understanding through visual art."

Cultural tourists will find a huge selection of Kuala Lumpur hotels at AsiaRooms.com, including the Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel.
