DUBAI, UAE, September 24, 2010 (Press-News.org) Leading literary figures in the Middle East, plus people with an interest in reading, are set to flock to the Sharjah International Book Fair next month.
The event, which takes place at the Sharjah Expo Centre between October 26th and November 6th 2010, is an opportunity for attendees to "celebrate the power" of books, the organisers have explained.
Since it first took place in 1982, the fair has expanded significantly and now typically attracts more than 400,000 visitors and 750 publishers each year, showcasing publications from more than 40 countries.
With a similarly large attendance anticipated at this year's expo, anyone who is considering attending would be wise to book nearby accommodation - such as Dubai hotels - as soon as possible.
On the agenda in 2010 will be a series of awards which look to honour local and international writers and publishers, with accolades being handed out across an array of categories.
These include best local publishing house, cultural personality of the year and best book published about the United Arab Emirates.
The fair will be open every day between 10:00 and 22:00 local time, although certain time slots will be set aside for schoolchildren and trade visitors, as well as publishers, researchers and educational institutions.
For more information on this event, visit the Sharjah International Book Fair website.
