BOURNEMOUTH, ENGLAND, August 12, 2010 (Press-News.org) Bournemouth-based over-50s insurance provider RIAS is holding a free fashion show, in association with Marks & Spencer, Miss Selfridge and Next, on Saturday 14 August at Castlepoint Shopping Centre to raise funds for its employee charity of the year, Macmillan Cancer Support.
The live catwalk event, which will feature RIAS employees modelling the Autumn and Winter collections from the three stores, will feature seven fashion shows, each lasting 20 minutes, every hour between 10am and 4pm.
Janet Connor, Managing Director RIAS, said: "After the fantastic success of last year's event, we are delighted to be hosting the free RIAS Fashion Show again at Castlepoint Shopping Centre. 20 employees have volunteered their spare time to contribute towards the day, from taking to the catwalk and modelling the latest collections, to helping out behind the scenes. The Fashion Show is the latest event in our fundraising calendar, and all donations made throughout the day will help us towards reaching our annual fundraising target of GBP25,000 for our worthy charity, Macmillan Cancer Support, which is close to the hearts of our employees and our customers."
Since January over 100 RIAS employees have completed daring challenges and fundraising to help make a difference to the lives of those diagnosed with cancer, from taking part in the Dorset Bike Ride to abseiling down the Water Tower in Poole.

Searching for Signs of Nursing Home Abuse or Neglect
2010-08-12
We trust nursing homes and assisted living facilities to care for some of the most vulnerable people in our communities: elderly individuals who are no longer able to care for themselves. Unfortunately, this trust is sometimes misplaced, and the consequences can be tragic.
Abuse and neglect can be particularly worrisome because if often goes unreported. 2010-08-12
The long wait for the Federal Government to address Immigration Reform may be coming to a close, as the debate over the need for reform for border enforcement and the manner in which to deal with the 15 million or so "undocumented" foreign nationals already in the US has reached a boiling point. Although multiple proposals for immigration reform, from single-issue legislation to "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" (CIR) have been introduced in Congress over the past several years, each proposal has met several roadblocks in Congress resulting in no change. With the enactment ...

The Texas legislature recognized the problems inherent with the need to protect the children of military parents while balancing those needs with the rights of military parents, and as such passed a new state law (Senate Bill 279) effective September 1, 2009 dealing directly with this circumstance of military deployment.
In Texas, divorced parents or unmarried parents of a child or children are typically named as joint managing conservators ...
New Technologies Provide Convenience Along With Distractions and Risk
2010-08-12
In the digital era, multitasking has become a way of life. While reading the news, we chat with colleagues through instant message. While having coffee with friends, we check text messages. We divide our attention between multiple activities, trusting that each activity only demands a fraction of our available capacity.
Most of the time, this is not a serious problem. We have adapted to a way of life that anticipates and accepts constant interruptions. Unfortunately though, some activities are not well-suited to this approach. Most notably, perhaps, is the activity of ...
